Introduction

The objective of this assignment is to provide the students with an opportunity to gain a broader knowledge of the state of the art of a particular area of software architecture. The students will form a team of 3 members to carry out a mapping study on an assigned topic and will prepare a report describing a snapshot of the current research on a specialized topic of software architecture discipline.

  • Software architecture evaluation
  • Modeling quality attributes
  • Architectural knowledge and rationale management
  • Model-Driven approaches for service-based systems
  • Architectures for self-managing service-based systems

Methodology

Systematic mapping study is a research method that is aimed at systematically identifying, filtering, and presenting a snapshot of the research on a particular topic. The results of a systematic mapping study provide a structure of the types and venues of research reported on a certain topic. This research method is deemed to be useful for anyone who wants to gain a broad knowledge of a particular area. It is expected to provide essential skills required to carry out a systematic search to find the solutions reported for a given problem.
